Hands on learning is the best way to learn in the pre-k classroom! My goal with this project is to have a fun way of learning how to count, sort by different attributes, and create and extend patterns. My students love playing with my light table during free choice centers in the classroom, but there is only room for two students max at a time. With this project, I am able to teach in small groups with the light pads where every student gets their own workspace. Eventually, I plan to expand on the activities I can do with the light pads with other manipulatives to work on other pre-k skills, such as using translucent alphabet letters to work on spelling their first names. Since we have started using these light pads, my students have been very engaged with our math small groups. They have been excited every time I have had them set out on the tables! I am so grateful to LPS Foundation for making my ideas a reality in my classroom, and giving my students opportunities to learn in new ways!
