HELP BRING THE GIFT OF READING TO LAWTON-FORT SILL CHILDREN

The Lawton Public School Foundation, in partnership with Lawton Public Schools and our community, is excited to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to children in the Lawton-Fort Sill community.

The goal of the Imagination Library is simple but powerful: to provide a high-quality, age-appropriate book every month, free of charge, to children from birth through their fifth birthday. Books will be mailed directly to enrolled children with a Lawton-Fort Sill address, regardless of their family’s income.

The program is designed to help children develop a lifelong love of reading while encouraging parents and caregivers to make reading a regular part of a child's earliest years. Early experiences with books and reading can help build important language and literacy skills and provide children with a strong foundation for their future education.

The Lawton Public School Foundation provides the financial support needed to establish and sustain the local program, while Lawton Public Schools will handle the administrative and day-to-day responsibilities of implementing the program. Together, along with our generous community partners, we hope to make a lasting difference for the youngest learners in our community.

A Gift in Memory of Eugene DeLoach, Sr.

This effort began with a generous seed donation from Footsteps to Greatness (FTG), an entity created by Dr. Regina DeLoach and her family in memory of Retired Lieutenant Colonel Eugene DeLoach, Sr.

Lt. Col. DeLoach loved serving his community and valued the education and success of young people. His legacy of service continues through his family's generous investment in the children of Lawton-Fort Sill.

The FTG donation provided the seed money needed to help launch the Imagination Library in our community. We are deeply grateful for this meaningful gift and for the opportunity to carry forward Lt. Col. DeLoach's commitment to serving others.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The books themselves are provided through the generosity of The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Our local community is responsible for the postage required to deliver those books to children, along with the administrative costs associated with operating the program.

We anticipate that postage will cost approximately $2,400 per month, with costs increasing as enrollment grows.

This is where our community can make a tremendous difference.

A donation of $2,000 or more provides an opportunity to sponsor one month of the program. As a special recognition of your support, the sponsoring business, organization, or individual can have a “Sponsored by” label placed inside each book mailed during that month.

Gifts of every size are welcome and appreciated. Every dollar helps us reach more children and sustain this important early-literacy initiative.

Your support will help put books into the hands of local children, encourage families to read together, and give our youngest learners the opportunity to begin building their own home libraries.

We invite you to join the Lawton Public School Foundation, Lawton Public Schools, and our community in making a lasting investment in the children of Lawton-Fort Sill.

Together, we can give the gift of reading, inspire a lifelong love of learning, and help our children dream more, learn more, care more, and be more.

Please reach out to Lisa Carson, LPSF Executive Director, if you would like to make a donation and reach out to Dr. Regina DeLoach with any administrative questions.
