PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
By using the litarcy books about block builds on animals, buildings, space and dinosaurs we can have a world of fun. Students will demonstrate increased Enhanced problem-solving and critical thinking and the ability to plan, test, revise, and explain solutions during engineering and building challenges. We will integrate Big Blue Blocks , medium blocks, mini table top blocks and Dino Blocks into classroom instruction, literacy centers, science investigations, STEM activities, makerspace experiences, and collaborative learning opportunities.
Activities will be connected to existing curriculum and may include:
Building a dinosaur model after reading an informational text.
Constructing a dinosaur habitat and explaining how environmental features meet an animal’s needs.
Designing a structure that protects a dinosaur from a weather event or other challenge.
Comparing dinosaur sizes, body structures, movement, and habitats.
Creating a model and writing or presenting an explanation of its design.
Using measurement, counting, classification, patterns, and spatial vocabulary during construction.
Building a building after learning about architecture, aviation or several famous painters, builders and engineers like Davinci.
Collaborating on a whole-class park, prehistoric landscape, how to solve a construction problem or a museum exhibit.
The imagination playgrounds blue blocks sets and Dino Blocks project will provide Lawton Public School students with meaningful opportunities to learn through movement, imagination, collaboration, reading, and problem-solving. The mini table top blocks will be used in the planning stages of the students building so they can see a mini size of their planning stage and problem solving before trying a larger scale. We can also use these in other activities like center-based rotation learning. By pairing open-ended construction materials with high-interest dinosaur literature and engineering building challenges. The project will make academic concepts accessible and engaging for learners in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Students will complete developmentally appropriate oral and writen reflections with teacher observations . Example: kindergarten and primary students may use drawings, picture-based checklists, or sentence stems. Older students may respond to questions such as:
What did your group build?
What problem did you solve?
What changed after testing your design?
How did you contribute to your team?
What did you learn from the dinosaur book?
What would you change in a future design?

PROVIDE A SCHEDULE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF YOUR PROPOSED PROJECT:
Month 1: Project Launch: Confirm grant award and budget. Finalize vendor selections and place orders. Identify participating classrooms
Month 2: Preparation and Training : Receive, organize, label, and inventory all materials. Assemble storage containers and organization systems. Review safety expectations and checkout procedures. Conduct initial professional development on block use, engineering design, literacy integration
Month 3: Pilot Implementation: Introduce dinosaur-themed books and construction challenges. Collect teacher feedback, student reflections, photographs, and initial observation data. Identify needed revisions to activity cards, schedules, and storage procedures.
Months 4–6: Full Implementation: Expand access across kindergarten through fifth grade. Begin classroom rotations and center-based use. Integrate activities into science, literacy, mathematics, engineering, and social-emotional learning. Provide ongoing Peer collaboration. Monitor participation and material use.
Continued implementation/Following school years : Adjust timeline, class schedule for usage and lesson plans based on teacher and student feedback. Update curriculum-connected building challenges.
