Students will develop the ability to locate, evaluate, organize, and use credible legal information.
Students will learn to:

Success Target: At least 80% of students will demonstrate measurable improvement between the beginning-of-year and end-of-year legal research assessments.
Objective 2: Improve Legal Writing
Students will develop professional writing skills through authentic legal writing activities.

BUDGET JUSTIFICATION
Law-Focused Legal Reference Library – $1,500
Funds will establish a classroom legal library containing current and relevant resources focused on criminal law, criminal procedure, constitutional law, mediation and conflict resolution, legal research, and legal writing.
These resources will give students direct access to law-focused materials and allow them to practice locating, interpreting, comparing, and applying legal authorities to realistic scenarios.
The books will be reusable instructional resources serving students across all three LRC Legal Studies courses and future cohorts.
Online Legal Research Resources – $1,500
Funding will provide access, where educational licensing is available and appropriate, to online legal research and reference resources. Students will learn how legal research can be conducted using both print and digital resources.
Mock Courtroom and Mediation Materials – $750
Materials will support realistic courtroom and mediation simulations, including case files, legal folders, role cards, mediation materials, courtroom signage, legal pads, and related supplies.
Technology and Digital Resources – $750
Funding will support digital research, presentations, document access, and other technology needs associated with legal research and instruction.
Student Research and Project Materials – $500
Funding will support student research projects, case studies, legal writing portfolios, presentations, and capstone activities
