Our grant purchased two chicken brooder boxes, bedding, feed, a coop for transitioning birds outdoors, two incubators, feeders, waterers, vitamins, and other supplies needed to raise chickens, ducks, and turkeys in class; students gained hands‑on experience with each fowl’s life cycle, developed responsibility by cleaning cages and caring for feeding and lighting needs, learned appropriate diets and how to prepare birds for the outdoor coop, and explored farm‑to‑table concepts and agricultural roles in our community—an authentic, age‑appropriate introduction that supports continued agricultural study in middle and high school.
