The philanthropic work of our next spotlight can be recognized all across southwest Oklahoma. The McMahon Foundation was founded in 1940 by Louise D. McMahon and her son, Eugene D. McMahon, in memory of husband and father E.P. McMahon. The foundation serves non-profit entities with the purpose of helping those that cannot help themselves. Since the foundation’s inception, they’ve donated over $96-million to projects they’ve supported, including the Lawton Public School Foundation.
“Education is one of the principal areas the McMahon Foundation was established to support. The McMahon family knew the value of education for our community and the positive benefits that it would bring to both individuals and the community. The current board of trustees recognizes the impact that the LPSF is having on elevating the educational experience to the students.”
-Phil Kennedy, Chairman, McMahon Foundation
The McMahon Foundation has partnered with the LPS Foundation since 2013 to provide additional funding for special projects in our schools. In 2013, they matched LPS Foundation’s donation of $125,000 for technology “switches” for Lawton Public Schools. This project was called “The Information Highway.” In 2015, the McMahon Foundation made a $160,000 donation to LPS Foundation to help provide seed money for STEM labs in our schools.
“The McMahon Foundation is a blessing to our community. We applaud the board of directors for investing in a multitude of projects in our community that elevate the quality of life for many community members. McMahon Foundation is very forward thinking and their investment in LPS Foundation has allowed us the opportunity to make tremendous gains with STEM education in our public schools.”
-Lawton Public School Foundation
Comanche County and surrounding areas have benefited greatly from the generosity of the McMahon Foundation. The LPS Foundation is honored that McMahon Foundation has chosen to support us and our mission.
“Businesses and community members who are looking to make an impact on our community can find no better place by investing in the LPSF. Their efforts are making a difference in the education and lives of the youngest members of our community, and their contributions will make a difference for years to come.”
-Phil Kennedy, Chairman, McMahon Foundation
Without the support of Pillars like the McMahon Foundation, LPSF would not be able to provide the support and resources that we do to the teachers and students of Lawton Public Schools.
