2021 Pillar Appreciation Event
On October 26, 2021, we hosted our annual Pillar Appreciation Dinner at Eisenhower Middle School, and we had a wonderful time! At the event, we were able to thank Crossland Construction Team for the beautiful new school they recently completed, and we invited some teachers and students to speak about how our Grants to Teachers program has positively impacted education in our community.
Elijah Morlett, MMS teacher, and Addison Bratzler, MMS student, thanked LPSF for providing multi-year grants for broadcasting equipment. “MY middle school students are using equipment and learning broadcasting skills that I was taught in college!” Mr. Morlett said. MMS students are learning and utilizing interviewing skills, video production, and editing of their own broadcasts.
Mrs. Lindsey Hoebert and Maddie Muller thanked LPS Foundation and our donors for the multi-year grants that the Lawton FFA has received. This year, Mrs. Hoebert will teach a floral arrangement class at the Life Ready Center in the spring, and the Foundation provided some of the resources they needed in order to start this class. A few days after this event, Maddie was awarded National Champion in Agriscience Social Systems, Division 3!
Everyone in attendance was blown away with the speech and performance given by student Jaden Pierce, a junior at Eisenhower High School. He thanked the community and the LPS educators for providing him a quality education and helping him prepare for the future. LPS Foundation is proud to be able to provide several grants each year for fine art classes throughout the district. Watch Jaden’s video of the song he performed.
Last but not least, we awarded four Crystal Pillar awards at our event. Recipients of the Crystal Pillar award are individuals and businesses that have made a monumental impact on the Lawton Public School Foundation. They are donors and volunteers who have dedicated significant time, resources, or expertise to support and empower our students and teachers. They are cheerleaders of the foundation and a friend to Lawton Public Schools—we are incredibly grateful for the impact their generosity has on our mission to enhance the learning experience in our community. Awards were presented to Tracie Davis, Denise Rooney, Classic Lawton Chevrolet, and Mike & Sandy Mayhall. Learn more about these fine community pillars and their contributions here.
